Carl has been the front man for many bands since the early 80’s including Hi-Fi and the Road Burners, Chasers , The DuValls, the and most recently, The Neverly Brothers. While with Hi-Fi and the Road Burners he opened for the Stray Cats at Park West and while with the DuValls he opened for the Brian Setzer Orchestra at the Vic.
Carl is now officially endorsed by Gretsch Guitars, and Conquest cables.
The stepping stones of this group were laid down in 2006 after guitarist/vocalist Carl Schreiber broke away from local act, The Neverly Brothers, and joined forces with former Chasers band member Rick Uppling, along with a new drummer by the name of Tracy Shepherd. Recently, however; Rick's personal responsibilities became extensive, and he needed to spend more time with his family. Tracy also had chosen to explore other musical opportunities, so at that point the band was without a rhythm section and could have been in trouble. However, as has been the band's history, its fortunes took yet another positive turn. Long-time friend and occasional fill-in drummer Joe Smith had expressed serious interest multiple times, that he would be thrilled to join the group should an opportunity ever arise. And, when it became clear a new bass player was needed, Joe was quick to assist and suggested Erik, who he was familiar with through past band affiliations. As difficult as it can be to change personnel, the personal history and talent both Joe and Erik bring to the Cadillac Casanovas made the transition smoother than a Cadillac's HydroMatic transmission! Today, they form the Cadillac Casanovas. All three members, having been involved in the local music scene for many years, have contributed to building a following of dedicated fans eager to attend their shows.
Past performances they are proud to have as part of their resume include sharing the stage with the likes of Buddy Holly's Crickets, Eden Everly (son of Don Everly/Everly Brothers), Matthew and Gunnar Nelson (Nelson/Ricky Nelson Remembered), the Cowsills, Johnny Rivers, and New Colony 6. They have also performed at the historic Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake Iowa for the annual Winter Dance Party, and in Las Vegas three times at the Orleans Hotel for the world's largest Rockabilly convention, the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender.
Erik Olson is a producer and multi-instrumentalist from the Midwest. Having played music in the Chicagoland area for the past 20 years, he is thrilled to join forces with the area's own Cadillac Casanovas. With both a classical and jazz background in upright bass, the walking and thumping bass of 1950's rock and roll is brought to the band by his eager and energetic stylings. After 15 years of professional choir direction and harmony arrangement, Erik feels right at home writing and singing authentic 3 part harmony with the Casanovas. Erik also owns a record label and has a private studio of students, as well as being a web administrator for a number of local business' websites. When Erik is not working, he is at home being a parent with his 3 wonderful boys, and two lazy cats.
Joe has been a professional drummer for over 25 years. He has worked with bands such as Prophet, (Wisconsin Dells), Johnny Star and the Meteors, The Incognitos, Centerline, The Wind Gypsys, Rick Lindy and the Wild Ones, The Chauffeurs, and Moonlight Cocktail. He also subs occasionally with The Rockin’ Fenderskirts, The Stingrays, and Everett Dean.
